Pride Open Weight GP Semi-Final Matches

Dream Stage Entertainment has announced the match-ups set to take place in the semi-finals of the Pride Open Weight Grand Prix.

Wanderlei Silva vs. Mirko Cro Cop
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Josh Barnett

Fujita and Baroni Scheduled for UFC 65

PRIDE’s Japanese web site is reporting that Kazuyuki Fujita will appear on the upcoming UFC 65 card which is set to take place November 18th in Las Vegas, Nevada. The article stated that Fujita has confirmed that he will be on the card.

Phil Baroni will also make an appearance on the UFC 65 card as well. On ‘The Underground’ Baroni mentioned that he is part of the PRIDE/UFC deal which will see him face a top UFC middleweight fighter on the card.

Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva

UFC President Dana White just entered the UFC octagon and broke the news the PRIDE Middleweight Champion Wanderlei Silva will take on UFC LHW Champion Chuck Liddell in November.

This is huge, fans knew that Silva and the PRIDE President would be in attendance but no one knew why. Our question has been answered and fans will now get to see their dream match up.

Pride OWGP Final Four Set

With round two of the Pride Open Weight Grand-Prix now in the books, fans will get to see four of the worlds best fighters face off in the semifinals.

Three Fights Added to “Critical Countdown Absolute”

PRIDE FC has added three non-tournament fights to “Critical Countdown Absolute”. BTT fighter Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will face the tough strike Alistair Overeem, K-1 vet Yoshihiro Nakao will fight Eun Su Lee and heavyweight prospect Edson Drago will battle judo stand-out Pawel Nastula.

Pride Signs Belfort, Nakao

Pride announced two major signings today in the form of Vitor Belfort and Yoshihiro Nakao. Belfort will take on Yoshiki Takahashi at Critical Countdown Absolute 2006. Many recognize Nakao from his infamous pre-fight staredown with Heath Herring in which Nakao kissed him on the lips only to be knocked out by a Herring right hand immediately after.

Ryo Chonan Out?

Just over one week ago Ryo Chonan went to war and won a split decision over Joey Villasenor. Unfortunately for Chonan, he suffered multiple fractures around the orbital bone. The severity of the injury at this point is unknown but this may force Chonan out of the second round of the Bushido Grand Prix which is set to take place August 26th.

Pride Comments on Situation with Fuji TV

For the first time since Fuji TV cancelled Pride earlier this week, DSE President Nobuyuki Sakakibara spoke with the press and commented on how Fuji TV representatives went about informing Pride officials on the cancellation.

Fuji TV also announced that any fighters or people associated with Pride cannot appear on any Fuji TV program.
