Jake Shields talks about his upcoming fight against Mike Pyle at EliteXC: Renegade tomorrow night and discusses why he believes he is one of the best welterweights in the world right now.
The America Bank Center Arena in Corpus Christi, Texas, will rock like it never has before when Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, presents “EliteXC: Renegade’’ on Saturday, Nov. 10, on Showtime (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).
An excellent main event will feature an EliteXC world title fight in a brand new weight class – 160 pounds—between talented, crowd-pleasing Nick Diaz and exciting, hard-hitting KJ Noons.
In other televised bouts, Kimbo will make his EliteXC debut against Bo Cantrell and world-ranked welterweight Jake Shields will face Mike Pyle. A fifth televised fight will be announced in the near future.
Mike Russell of The Fight Network has learned through Jack Shields, Jake Shields’ father and manager, that his son will be fighting fellow welterweight Mike Pyle on November 10th at EliteXC’s next event.
“Mike is a great fighter, and Jake has wanted to fight him for a while,” the elder Shields said. “He’s training hard for this fight and is really looking forward to this opportunity.”
Ken Pavia, Pyle’s manager also told Russell on Friday afternoon that the fight was just about “a done deal”.
Sam Caplan originally broke the news that Shields would be fighting as part of EliteXC’s next card earlier this week.
My guess of Pyle as Shields’ opponent was right too apparently.
Today, Pavia, Ciscone & Associates announced that Mike Pyle has signed a three-fight deal with the newly formed Showtime organization, Elite Xtreme Combat. Pyle’s first fight will come against Ross “The Boss” Ebanez on February 10, 2007.
Also it has been announced that the UFC has re-signed Martin “Hitman” Kampmann and “Irish” Jake O’Brien to three-fight extensions.
