Rock the Vote: Rockhold or Jardine?

Who do you have in tonight's Strikeforce main event? Will Rockhold's fluid combination of striking and wrestling keep Jardine guessing or will the UFC vet's unorthodox style give the champ trouble?

Video: Highlights from Strikeforce’s “Rockhold vs Jardine” Pre-Fight Press Conference

Here are some highlights from today's pre-fight press conference for this weekend's Strikeforce "Rockhold vs. Jardine" event, which airs live on Showtime at 10 PM ET from Las Vegas, Nevada. Among those in attendance were Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, top contender Keith Jardine, one-time Strikeforce light heavyweight title holder Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal and his opponent Lorenz Larkin among others.

UFC Targeting JDS-Overeem, Potential Silva-Sonnen Rematch for Summer

UFC President Dana White has revealed that his organization is currently looking at summer dates for a UFC heavyweight title showdown between champion Junior dos Santos and challenger Alistair Overeem as well as a potential rematch between longtime middleweight king Anderson Silva and bitter rival Chael Sonnen.

The UFC's head honcho commented on the matchups during last night's premiere episode of "UFC Tonight" on FUEL TV. According to White, the UFC is looking at holding the heavyweight title fight at some point in the summer. If Sonnen were to get past Mark Munoz at UFC on Fox 2 later this month, the same could be said for the middleweight division's biggest grudge match.

"Hopefully, this summer. This summer is probably when it's going to go down," White said of dos Santos and Overeem. "Alistair wants to take some time off. Junior is ready but needs to get some training in. So hopefully, this summer."

KO of the Year: Silva vs. Belfort

On February 5, 2011, Anderson Silva was supposed to have met his match.

A fellow Brazilian that was an explosive striker with knockout power, potentially faster on the feet, and a black belt in jiu-jitsu, Vitor Belfort posed the biggest threat that Silva had seen in a long time. Chael Sonnen would argue that, but we're talking about on pre-fight paper here.

It only took "The Spider" three and a half minute to put a stop to the hype.

Event of the Year: UFC 139

The usual pre-event hype for UFC 139 just wasn't there. The UFC's first foray into the San Jose area following their surprising acquisition of Bay Area mainstay Strikeforce happened to be sandwiched in between the organization's network television debut on FOX, pitting Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos in a UFC heavyweight title bout, and the finale of the fourteenth season of "The Ultimate Fighter" the show's last on Spike.

It wasn't as if the fight card was lacking. Dan Henderson's return to the Octagon against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua was a barnburner of a headliner. Wanderlei Silva facing Cung Le and Urijah Faber going up against Brian Bowles aren't bad co-main events either. The advertising just wasn't there.

Still, UFC 139 delivered to say the least...
