Word of the bout was first reported by Sportsnet.ca, citing sources close to the event. UFC 149 is slated to be headlined by Jose Aldo defending his UFC featherweight title against an opponent yet to be named.
Roop enters the bout on a two-fight losing streak, dropping a split decision to Hatsu Hioki in October that was followed up by a second-round TKO loss at the hands of Cub Swanson at UFC on FOX 2 in January.
Carvalho fell in his UFC debut at UFC 142, losing a unanimous decision to Brazilian prospect Felipe Arantes. The 32-year-old has won three straight fights prior.
