— King of the Cage lightweight champion Bobby Green has been tapped to replace Lyle Beerbohm against former K-1 Hero's standout Gesias Cavalcante on the undercard of Strikeforce's "Fedor vs. Henderson" event on July 30. The reasoning behind Beerbohm's departure from the contest is currently unknown. Green enters the bout fresh off of a unanimous decision win over Dom O'Grady in April. [Strikeforce]

— Heavy hitting striker Lavar Johnson has been forced out of this weekend's Strikeforce Challengers 17 show with an undisclosed injury. Taking his place in a heavyweight bout against IFL veteran Devin Cole will reportedly be former collegiate football player Shawn Jordan, who recently posted a 1-1 mark under the Bellator banner. The Daily Recap: Pickett-Barao Set for UFC 138, Boetsch, Ring to Meet in October & More

— Rising featherweight contenders Brad Pickett and Renan Barao have been signed to meet in a potential main card affair at UFC 138 on November 5 in Birmingham, England. Pickett has won ten out of his last eleven, most recently knocking off a returning Ivan Menjivar via unanimous decision at the WEC's final show in December. Barao has won all three of his bouts under the Zuffa banner to date, including a decision win over former WEC featherweight title holder Cole Escovedo in May. [The Daily Telegraph]

— Fresh off of a win oveR "TUF 3" winner Kendall Grove in his debut at middleweight, wrestling product Tim Boetsch is set to face undefeated Canadian grappler Nick Ring at UFC 135 on September 24. Boetsch opted to drop to 185 lbs after earning a 3-3 mark as a light heavyweight in the UFC. His opponent, Ring, is perfect thus far in his professional career. Some of his notable wins include submissions of Bill Mahood and James Head and a controversial decision over DEEP middleweight king Riki Fukuda. [UFC.com]

The Daily Recap: Grove, Riggs May Rematch in ProElite, Bustamante Hurt & More

— UFC veterans Kendall Grove and Joe Riggs are likely to rematch under the ProElite banner at the promotion's relaunch event on August 27 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Both fighters are coming off of recent releases from the UFC and Bellator respectively. Grove and Riggs originally fought in May 2004, with Riggs coming away the victor via first-round KO at Rumble on the Rock 5. [MMAFighting.com]

— Former UFC middleweight champion Murilo Bustamante has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming farewell bout against Yuya Shirai at a Clube da Luta event in Brazil this Wednesday due to a back injury suffered in training. Bustamante will be replaced by Delson Heleno, who will take on Shirai at a 180 lbs catchweight. [Tatame]

Tokoro Wins DREAM Bantamweight Grand Prix

Hideo Tokoro bested fellow submission specialist Masakazu Imanari via unanimous decision to win DREAM's inaugural bantamweight grand prix tournament at the organization's "Fight for Japan: Japan Grand Prix Final" event on Saturday at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan.

A pair of title defenses also took place: Hiroyuki Takaya grinded out a hard-fought split decision win over former Olympic wrestler Kazuyuki Miyata and Gegard Mousasi took out challenger Hiroshi Izumi in quick and impressive fashion, scoring a first round stoppage of the Japanese judoka.

Another notable winners on the card included world-ranked lightweight Tatsuya Kawajiri, DREAM welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis and DREAM bantamweight grand prix third-place winner Kenji Osawa.

Edgar-Maynard III, Aldo-Florian Anchor UFC 136 in Houston

The long-awaited conclusion of the trilogy between UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and top contender Gray Maynard as well as what may be Jose Aldo's toughest test to date at featherweight in a title defense against former two-time 155 lb. title challenger Kenny Florian will headline the UFC's first-ever trip to Houston, Texas on October 8.

The UFC officially announced the pair of title fights this afternoon. UFC 136, which will emanate from the Toyota Center and feature a pre-event UFC Fan Expo, is also slated to feature Chael Sonnen's return to action against Brian Stann as well as Melvin Guillard looking for his sixth straight win against Joe Lauzon.

Edgar and Maynard will spar in a rematch of their back-and-forth battle at UFC 125 in January, which featured a dominating first round performance by Maynard and a come-from-behind run for the ages from Edgar, which ultimately resulted in a majority draw.

All Fighters on Weight for DREAM Japan GP Final

All sixteen fighters scheduled to compete at DREAM's "Fight for Japan: Japan Grand Prix Final" event on Saturday successfully made weight yesterday afternoon.

Seasoned veteran Drew Fickett originally came in two pounds over the 154-lb limit for his fight against Tatsuya Kawajiri, but  shed the extra weight and hit the required mark a couple of hours later.

The eight-fight card, which will not air live in North America, features a pair of title fights - DREAM light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi taking on Hiroshi Izumi and featherweight title holder Hiroyuki Takaya returning to face Kazuyuki Miyata - as well as the bantamweight grand prix finals featuring submission specialists Masakazu Imanari and Hideo Tokoro.

— Bellator season four featherweight tourney winner Patricio "Pitbull" Friere will reportedly challenge Joe Warren for Bellator's featherweight title in rematch on July 23 at Bellator 47. Friere knocked off Georgi Karakhanyan, Wilson Reis and Daniel Straus to earn another shot at Warren, who earned a tight split decision over Friere in their originial meeting in June of last year. — Chad Mendes has agreed to put his top contender status on the line and face slick submission specialist Rani Yahya in a featherweight bout at UFC 133 on August 6. Mendes, who has started a perfect 10-0 as a pro, has won five straight fights under the WEC and UFC banner. Meanwhile his opponent, Yahya, is coming off of an unanimous decision win over former WEC featherweight champion Mike Thomas Brown in January. [UFC.com]

The Daily Recap: NY Senate Votes to Legalize MMA, Aldo-Mendes Scrapped & More

— The New York State Senate has voted to legalize the sport of mixed martial arts and the fate of yet another attempt to bring the world's fastest growing sport to the Empire State will once again go through the State Assembly, which has shot down such a bill multiple times in years past. — A proposted UFC featherweight title bout between reigning champion Jose Aldo and top contender Chad Mendes, originally targeted for a UFC event in August, has essentially been scrapped. Citing wear and tear from his hard-fought win over Mark Hominick in April, Aldo's management team has stated that their fighter won't be returning to action until the fall. Mendes has instead opted to fight in August regardless against a different opponent rather than sit on the sidelines and wait for a title shot. [MMA Weekly]

Bellator Announces Details for Summer Series Featherweight Tourney

CHICAGO, ILL — Bellator Fighting Championship’s highly anticipated Summer Series Featherweight Tournament will kick off on June 25th live on MTV2 from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Bellator 46 will feature four featherweight quarterfinal fights, as well as a talent-filled undercard.

The night will see Brazilian knockout artist Marlon Sandro taking on fellow Brazilian Genair da Silva in an incredibly intriguing featherweight fight. With both fighters known for their knockout ability, fans should expect fireworks.

“I am coming to the United States to become a world champion,” said Sandro. “I see Bellator as the place to really make a name for myself here in the U.S. I'm here to put on great fights, entertain the fans, and fight my way to the Bellator Featherweight World Championship.”

Here are the latest MMA on Tap fighter rankings. We will be updating these every month or whenever an adjustment is needed, like after a major event for example. The rankings break down into seven different lists of ten, each of them by division.

If you ever want to compare these with your own or just take a look at the latest update, you can find them under the "Top 10" category in our features section. The organization a fighter is currently under contract to is listed next to the fighter’s name.

The rankings were tabulated by the MMA on Tap staff. Feel free to chime in with your own lists, thoughts, or suggestions.
